The Birkman Method is an online personality assessment test, which uses a questionnaire with 298 questions. You receive an analysis of your usual behavior, motivators, needs and stress behavior based on the outcome. This unique blend of traits offers an integrated overview, helping you and your team maximize understanding of behaviors and drivers.
Use it to facilitate effective team building, coaching, leadership development, career guidance, conflict resolution, culture enhancement and much, much more.
Soaring + Company is Birkman Certified. We help you understand the data in the report, and provide the feedback to you and your team members. We can do that either individually, in a group session, or in a combination of those. It can be done on-site, or 100% virtual.
The Birkman Method measures what it intends to measure, and the results will not dramatically change over time. You will learn more about yourself, what makes you unique and how this impacts you and those around you.

This is how we normally behave, and how others see us, at work and in our personal situations. It is our everyday interpersonal style.
It shows when we have what we need, our social expectations are met, and our working style is in harmony with our managers and colleagues. We are typically the most productive in these situations, and it is what the majority of other assessments focus on.
Unique to the Birkman is what happens when we don’t have what we need. That’s when our social expectations are not met, or our usual behaviors are in contrast with opposing work styles of others. When that happens, you run the risk of displaying stress behaviors, entering conflict and reduced productivity.
The Birkman Method combines our Needs, and our Stress Behavior in one cluster. In your report, you see them combined as they directly affect each other.
Firstly, our Needs. These reflect how we see the world and how other should treat us. It shows what we need from the work or personal environment, our managers, to keep us happy, productive, motivated and effective. The Needs are highly individual, and can differ significantly within any group of people.
When our Needs go broadly unmet, the reactions to work, others and social environments tend to quickly become less productive. At that point, they’re more likely to lead to failure and conflict.
Next, the Stress Behavior. This is the behavior that represents the most ineffective aspects of your personality. The severity and level of lack of effectiveness depends on which Needs are not met and to what degree.
When you have a sound understanding of the underlying causes and manifestation of Stress Behavior, you can more effectively self-manage. In addition, you can effectively increase your emotional intelligence to be more effective.
The Interests reflect the activities you naturally gravitate towards and enjoy. At work, engaging your interests can motivate and keep you productive. When you spend time on your interests outside of work, you feel more balanced and energized when you return to your job. However, the Interest outcome doesn’t equal Talent: you don’t have to be particularly good at it to enjoy the task.
In a team, the Interests have the ability to influence what team members prioritize, and the perceptions of how coworkers focus time and energy, leading to behavior consequences. The Birkman Method assesses ten Interests: Outdoor, Scientific, Technical, Persuasive, Social Service, Artistic, Literary, Musical, Administrative, and Numerical. These categories help you connect each of these to occupational data that can increase your success.
The combination of Interests with your usual behavior, in addition to the Needs and Stress Behavior paints a comprehensive picture of your behavior in every day situations, and helps you manage yourself and your team more effectively.
